Editorial: Biden's 'stand up Chuck' gets biggest gaffe

Biden sure says some wacky things.

Joe Biden is pretty much a given as the person who gave this year’s biggest gaffe; the only question was picking which one of his many gaffes to use. From calling Hillary Clinton a better vice presidential choice than himself to claiming former President Franklin Roosevelt addressed America on television following the stock market crash of 1929, Biden has been busy rattling off one dumbass remark after another.

Without a doubt though, his biggest gaffe and the best of the year, took place right here in Columbia. During a rally, Biden asked then-Sen. Chuck Graham, D-Columbia, to stand up. Biden didn’t know Graham has been in a wheelchair since a car wreck when he was 16 years old. To make matters worse, Biden then asked the audience to “stand up for Chuck.” By pointing out Graham’s disability and drawing more attention to his own fuck up, Biden easily wins the category for the best gaffe.

Now in office and out of the spotlight, Biden seems to have slowed down with the gaffes, but it’s a miracle such gems as “stand up Chuck” didn’t sink Obama’s campaign.
