Every now and then, a person comes along that brings up a topic to incite endless hours of debate and conversation. This semester, The Maneater had two particular columnists who sparked dozens of letters to the editor and movements across campus.

With his column "Put down your beer and volunteer," Sean Nahlik unified the Greek community on campus. The Maneater had to devote an entire page to letters to the editor in the issue directly following the publication of this column. Later in the year, the Greek community took a day to wear neon shirts with the word Greek printed on them in an indirect response to column.

Later in the semester, political columnist Marcus Bowen wrote a column criticizing the referendum held about gender identity discrimination. Bowen incited the entire lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community, as well as all their allies.
