Missouri tennis suffered a pair of losses in a weekend road trip to two Texas schools.

No. 2 Baylor shut out the Tigers 7-0 Friday. The Bears swept the singles matches and took two of three of the doubles matches. Missouri broke through with senior Kristen Bleakley and freshman Andrea Lewis earning a victory in doubles play.

Missouri then traveled to take on Texas Tech on Sunday and fell 5-2. The Tigers got a singles win from junior Mallory Weber in the No. 2 spot. Weber defeated sophomore Natalie Leitch 6-3, 6-2 in the long Missouri singles victory.

Weber and junior Kaitlyn Ritchie won the first doubles spot 8-5, and Bleakley and Lewis took another doubles title, 9-7.

With the losses, Missouri fell to 6-14 overall and 1-8 in the Big 12. The Tigers conclude the regular season this weekend by hosting Texas on Friday and Texas A&M on Sunday.

The Big 12 Championships begin April 29 in Austin, Texas.

Track and Field

The Tigers competed in the Kansas Relays over the weekend and took four event titles on the final day of competition.

Sophomore Blake Irwin took first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:50.52, and the Tigers took three relay championships as well.

The Missouri men captured first place in the sprint relay, beating second place Wake Forest by five seconds. Missouri also captured 4x800-yard relay titles for men and women.

Freshman Katie Evans finished second in shot put, and freshman Megan Collins took fourth place in discus.

For the men throwers, senior Andy Oaker placed second in shot put, and junior Chris Holly finished third in hammer throw.

The Tigers will be at the Drake Relays from Thursday to Saturday.
