The Missouri baseball team started conference play with a series loss at Texas A&M on March 26 through March 28. The Tigers then split a two-game midweek series with Purdue and lost a weekend series to Baylor.

Missouri lost two close games to start the series against Texas A&M, first by a 3-1 score, then by a 5-4 score. Junior Nick Tepesch was the Tigers starter in the first game, allowing three runs in seven and one-third innings. Freshman Eric Anderson threw five and one-third scoreless innings as the starter in game two. No hitter was able to put together a multi-hit game in the first game, but four Tigers had two hits in the second game.

Missouri was able to finish the series strong with a 13-4 victory before heading back home. Senior first baseman Aaron Senne had four of the 17 hits for the Tigers in the final game.

Senne also had four hits in Missouri's first game against Purdue on March 30, as did senior shortstop Michael Liberto. The Tigers won that game 22-14 before dropping the second game 6-3 the next day.

In the first home conference series of the season, Missouri lost both legs of a doubleheader against Baylor on Saturday, 20-6 and 7-3. But once again, the Tigers were able to bounce back and take the final game of the series to avoid a sweep. Missouri fell behind 5-0 after three innings, but freshman right fielder Dane Opel hit three doubles as the Tigers scored in each of the last five innings to rally back for a 13-9 victory.

Track and Field

The Missouri men and women took team titles at the Tom Botts Invitational over the weekend.

The Tigers also claimed the two top performers of the two-day meet as seniors Nick Adcock and Lana Mims were named the Most Outstanding Athletes.

Adcock won the 110-meter hurdles crown Saturday and accounted for 35 points overall. Mims took titles in the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash and long jump.

The meet was the Tigers' final at home until they host the Big 12 Outdoor Championships starting May 14.

Golf

Senior Julia Potter won the Rebel Intercollegiate in Oxford, Miss., over the weekend with a school-record three-round total of 208. It was Potter's second consecutive title, after being the co-champion of the Mountain View Classic on March 26 and March 27 in Tucson, Ariz.

Missouri took fifth place as a team.

The men's team took second place at the UALR/First Tee Classic on March 29 and March 30 in Little Rock, Ark. Freshman Stuart Ballingall took the individual title with a 54-hole score of 201.

The Tiger men will host their lone home tournament of the season starting April 12.

Swimming and Diving

Competing at their respective NCAA Championships, the Missouri men finished in 27th place and the women finished in a tie for 42nd place.

Senior Greg DeStephen finished in 10th place in platform diving and sophomore Christina Gailey placed 13th on platform diving and was named an honorable mention All-American.
