Students can donate clothing in the Center for Student Involvement in the Student Center until Tuesday afternoon and pick out new clothes Wednesday.

In celebration of Earth Month, Sustain Mizzou will hold a clothing swap on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Sustain Mizzou typically hosts a clothing swap once every semester that is open to all students.

Donations for the clothing swap will be accepted until Tuesday at 5 p.m. Students wishing to donate can drop off clothing in the bin outside Sustain Mizzou’s office at 2507Q in the Center for Student Involvement located on the second floor of the Student Center. The CSI is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students can also drop off donations at any upcoming Sustain Mizzou meeting or event.

Sustain Mizzou is a student-run sustainability program on campus. Members participate in activities like gardening, beekeeping, composting, stream cleaning and bi-weekly general meetings. Kyra Binkhoelter is an MU senior and outreach and volunteer manager for Sustain Mizzou.

“It (the clothing swap) is a really fun and sustainable way to get new clothes,” Binkhoelter said. “Also, it’s college students bringing in clothes, so the clothes that are there are cute and stuff that you are actually going to want.”

Any type of clothing will be accepted, including shoes, bags and accessories. Binkhoelter said sometimes families from the community come to the clothing swap, so baby and children’s clothing are also acceptable.

According to Binkhoelter, around 50 people showed up to the last clothing swap. She is hoping to have just as many, if not more, people attend this time.

“Anyone, it doesn’t matter if you donated clothes or not, can come and basically pick out any clothes that you like,” Binkhoelter said. “It’s kind of like a free thrift shop.”

Binkhoelter said students can use the clothing swap as an opportunity to get rid of their old clothes and pick out new ones.

“Hopefully people have fun and want to participate,” Binkhoelter said.
