Police arrested Keith Wright, 20, of 301 Campus View Drive on suspicion of four counts of forgery Tuesday afternoon.
MU Police Department Maj. Jack Watring said Wright was arrested on suspicion of using a stolen credit card, a felony charge.
MU police were investigating a separate fraud incident at the University Bookstore and came upon Wright's case, Sgt. Brian Weimer said. Columbia police also are investigating Wright on suspicion of fraud.
Wright, a reserve defensive end, was suspended from the football team pending further investigation, said assistant media relations Director Jeremy McNeive.
Wright is being held at the Boone County Jail pending $5,000 bond.
