The Columbia Police Department is searching for the suspect in a stabbing that occurred Friday night near Eighth Street and Park Avenue.
Police said the victim, a 40-year-old Columbia resident who police declined to identify, was walking north on Eighth Street around 11:30 p.m. when the suspect approached him and demanded his property and money. The suspect fled north on Eighth Street without taking anything.

Police said the suspect is a man in his mid-30s, approximately six feet tall, of medium build and with a mustache, the release stated.
He was last seen wearing a black coat, hat and blue jeans.
