A 50-year-old Columbia resident caused a head-on collision at 1:31 a.m. on April 19 at Stadium Boulevard and Ashland Road, a news release from Columbia Police Department stated.

Carl Neal was driving east on Stadium Boulevard, west of Ashland Road, when he crossed the centerline and collided with Kelli Sullivan, who was driving westbound on Stadium, the release stated.

“It was an extraction accident which means someone was stuck and couldn’t get out,” Sgt. Timothy Moriarity said.

There were no serious injuries. Both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment. Neal was admitted for treatment and Sullivan was treated and released.

There is no indication of alcohol in this accident.

“Neither driver was arrested for DWI,” Moriarity said.

Neal was given a ticket and issued a summons for failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, the news release stated.

There were no arrests following the accidents, and the accident is still under investigation, police said.
