Junior middle blocker Alyssa Munlyn was named Player of the Week by PrepVolleyball.com on Oct. 3 for her performances in Missouri volleyball’s road victories against Auburn and Alabama this past weekend.
In Missouri’s thrilling five-set win at Auburn on Sept. 29, Munlyn recorded a season-high 15 kills and hit .519. She also had 12 total blocks, which matched a season high for any player in a Southeastern Conference match this season. Additionally, she tied for the second-most total blocks for a Mizzou player in a single match ever.
Munlyn also reached career milestones Friday, earning her 600th career kill and 400 total career blocks, and moved into fifth place in Mizzou’s all-time career block assists with 330.
Munlyn continued to shine in the Tigers’ big win at Alabama on Oct. 1, in which she posted seven kills, hit .667 and had five total blocks.
“Alyssa had a great week for us and it’s fantastic to see her continue to receive national recognition,” head coach Wayne Kreklow said in a press release. “She plays a vital role into our success and we’ve been excited to see her consistent development over the years.”
In addition to PrepVolleyball.com’s award, Munlyn was named Week 6 SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week by SECSports.com on Oct. 2.
