DL Terry Beckner Jr. will return for the Tigers in 2018

The former big-time recruit has been a force for Missouri this season.

Missouri football junior defensive lineman Terry Beckner Jr. silenced rumors regarding his status for the upcoming NFL draft when he announced Friday that he will return to the team for the 2018 season.

“We have a chance to do something special and keep momentum going into next year,” Beckner said through a tweet from Mizzou Athletics. “I want to be a part of that, and lead this team in the right direction.”

Beckner has been a fixture on the Missouri defensive line since he joined the Tigers as the No. 2 player in the 2015 recruiting class, according to ESPN 300.

Some questions emerged as to how much he could contribute to the Tigers after an ACL injury in 2016, the second such injury in his collegiate career.

Beckner has silenced the doubters en route to his best season yet in 2017, recording an impressive 35 tackles, including 10.5 for loss, seven sacks and an interception.

“I love Mizzou, and I’ve grown so much this year working with Coach (Brick) Haley, but there’s so much more that I can learn from him,” Beckner said. “I’m really grateful for the opportunity to be a Tiger and I want to do everything I can to help us do big things."
