Softball makes final, loses to No. 1 UCLA

The softball team played Boston College and No. 1 UCLA three times each last weekend at the UCLA Tournament in Los Angeles and got better results each day, finishing with a 2-0 loss to UCLA in the championship game.

On Friday, the Tigers lost both games without scoring a run, 8-0 to UCLA and 3-0 to Boston College. They improved Saturday against the same two teams, losing to UCLA 5-0 but beating Boston College 6-1.

Then on Sunday, MU beat Boston College again, this time by a score of 2-0 to earn a spot in the tournament's title game against UCLA.

Erin Kalka, starting her fourth game of the weekend, held the Bruins scoreless until the fourth inning, when two errors and a wild pitch allowed the only two runs of the game. Kalka finished with a complete game two-hitter, and struck out 10.
