Takeaways from the Missouri football depth chart announcement

Missouri football coach Barry Odom announced his depth chart before a press conference Monday, Aug. 29, at the Mizzou Athletic Training Complex.

Here are some notes from the depth chart.


Sophomore Drew Lock will start at quarterback. Marvin Zanders is listed as second string, and it’s expected that he will see action in 2016.

Alex Ross and Ish Witter are both listed as first-string tailbacks. Ross is a graduate transfer from Oklahoma and is also listed as the Tigers’ primary kick returner.

Redshirt freshman Johnathon Johnson is listed as one of the first-team receivers. He is also listed as a punt returner.

Alabama graduate transfer Chris Black is listed as a potential starter at wide receiver. He will also return punts.

Tyler Howell, Kevin Pendleton, Samson Bailey, Alec Abeln and Paul Adams are listed as the starting offensive linemen.


Along with Charles Harris, Jordan Harold is listed as a starting defensive end.

Rickey Hatley, A.J. Logan, Terry Beckner Jr. and Josh Augusta are the defensive tackles listed.

True freshmen Cale Garrett (linebacker), Christian Holmes (cornerback) and DeMarkus Acy (cornerback) are also listed on the defensive depth chart.

Special Teams

Freshman Tucker McCann is listed as the starting placekicker.
