1. Police respond to two separate theft reports at MU Student Center

MU police responded to two separate theft reports Tuesday afternoon at the MU Student Center.

MU Police Department Capt. Scott Richardson said a student reported a backpack stolen from the tall tables near Sunshine Sushi shortly after noon Tuesday. A different student reported a purse stolen between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., according to police records. The purse was last seen in the ID Office and contained credit cards, a student ID, gift cards and $20 in cash, Richardson said.

“Don’t ever set something down and leave it there, expecting it be there when you get back,” Richardson said. “Especially don’t leave your items of value sitting anywhere.”

2. Suspect exposes self in Walter Williams Hall

A suspect fled the scene after exposing himself Tuesday afternoon in the forum of Walter Williams Hall, MUPD Capt. Scott Richardson said.

Richardson said the complainant was walking back to his office at 1 p.m. Tuesday when he saw a man standing by the exit on the west side of the first floor.

“The complainant said he looked out of place standing in the corner,” Richardson said. “He walked toward the subject and saw he was ejaculating.”

The suspect fled when confronted and no arrests have been made, Richardson said. According to police records, the suspect would be charged with second-degree sexual misconduct, a class B misdemeanor under Missouri law.

3. Police arrest two on charges of forgery

Officers responded to a Hy-Vee pharmacy at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday at 25 Conley Road due to reports of a forged prescription.

Pharmacy staff said they believed the prescription to be fraudulent, and Megan Davis, 23, admitted to her involvement. Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said Cal Greenlaw, 60, admitted to writing the prescription but denied it was fraudulent. Davis and Greenlaw were arrested on charges of fraudulently attempting to obtain a controlled substance.

4. CPD arrests two on charges of shoplifting, drug possession

CPD officers were dispatched to shoplifting report at the Walmart Supercenter at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at 3001 W. Broadway.

According to CPD spokeswoman Latisha Stroer, an employee of the store witnessed two women take merchandise into a restroom and heard them open the packages inside. The same employee stopped Lacey Lowrey and Paige Vaughn as they left the store and detained them until police arrived. The two women admitted to shoplifting and were arrested on charges of stealing.

Lowrey had a glass pipe and marijuana in her purse, and was additionally charged with possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

5. Two arrested on charges of underage drinking at Willie’s Fieldhouse

CPD officers conducted an open business check at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday at Willie’s Fieldhouse at 1109 East Broadway St.

The officers saw Jessica Pitlyk and Hayley Mcelhinney, both 20-year-old MU students, with beer in their hands and asked them for their identification, according to a CPD report.

Both stated that a friend had purchased the alcohol for them. Pitlyk and Mcelhinney were arrested on charges of minors in possession of alcohol and were released on a summons, CPD spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said.

6. Police arrest four on charges of noise disturbance

CPD officers were dispatched at 10:56 p.m. Wednesday night to the area of 3900 Buttonwood Dr. in response to a disturbance report.

Officers heard loud music coming from an apartment in the area, and upon approaching the apartment they also heard several women yelling in the apartment. Police arrested Berkley Schuppan, 19, Andria Seymour, 20, Abigail Andrews, 19, and Taylor Belmore, 19, all of whom said they were equally responsible for the disturbance.
